European Alps Trekking - Tour du Mont Blanc in July 2014

This image is Alaska's Chugach Mountains
Greetings from Alaska! I will be away from Alaska in July for 3 weeks. I will be hiking/photographing the classic Tour du Mont Blanc trail in the European Alps. The trail circles around Mont Blanc Massif, the highest peak in Western Europe (15,770 feet), for roughly 110 miles into France, Italy, and Switzerland!

I am going to start the journey at Chamonix, France, explore mountain passes, wildflower fields, alpine villages, glacial valleys, medieval towns, lush meadows, jagged peaks with majestic Mont Blanc views while crossing the Italian and Swiss boarders then back into France.

I will walk with my camera gear for 15 days, and an additional exploration around Chamonix Valley. It will be my first trip to Europe. I'm excited to capture the magnificent landscape along with European cultural influences, which are much different from North American cultures.

I will post new images on my blog soon after returning... and I will add new page on my main website.

New Images - Glacier Bay National Park and Northern Lights

Greeting from Alaska!  I've been settling in Anchorage after spending another year in a remote area near Fairbanks for a northern lights photo project.  The pristine wilderness and dynamic mountains still keep me enthralled in this last frontier.

I know it has been a long time since my last update.  Finally, I am proud to announce that new images from Glacier Bay National Park, wildlife, and northern lights are added!  They are also available for fine art prints for sale now.

I've been dropping anchor in more locations in Alaska for photo projects - mostly in South Central to Kenai Peninsula to capture the delightful summer season in Alaska.

Northern Lights in Alaska 2010-2011

Greetings from Alaska! Yes, I'm still in Alaska after finishing the season in Glacier Bay National Park. My new photography project is the Northern Lights! I will spend the entire winter just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska photographing the Aurora Borealis in sub zero Arctic North. Capturing the northern lights has always been my dream, and I was finally able to schedule time this winter! I had good practice for sub zero temperatures last winter in Wyoming , so I'm ready for new challenges.

Besides photographing the northern lights, I'd like to capture the harsh but beautiful winter scene in the northern wilderness, the sense of the last frontier, and more.

Alaska 2010

I have been traveling/photographing in Southeast Alaska since early May. I left Seattle for Prince Rupert, B.C, and took a ferry through the Inside Passage. I stayed in Ketchikan and Petersburg for several days each, and am now heading to Skagway and Juneau. Then I'll fly to Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve via a small airplane on May 27. I'll be living and photographing in Glacier Bay between late May and early September in order to follow the short seasons.

Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve is located in southeast Alaska about 60 miles west of Juneau. The park has a beautiful coastline, tidal glaciers, rain forest, and snowcapped mountains. Wildlife includes humpback whales, orcas, and countless bears. The park's only road is 11 miles long, and boats and kayaks are the only way to explore the depths of Glacier Bay.

I'm excited to explore the remote wilderness of Glacier Bay National Park this coming summer.
